Lord of the Flies1990

After a plane crash in the ocean, a group of military students reach an island. Ralph organizes the boys, assigning responsibilities for each one. When the rebel Jack Merridew neglects the fire camp and they lose the chance to be seen by a helicopter, the group split under the leadership of Jack. While Ralph rationalizes the procedures, Jack returns to the primitivism, using the fear for the unknown (in a metaphor to the religion) to control the other boys, and hunting and chasing pigs, stealing the possession of Ralph's group and even killing people.

Some of the acting is crap and this is by no means a masterpiece, but it's worth watching. I remember watching this in school after we finished the book. The book puts the film to shame, and maybe a third remake could actually fly as a great film.

It's hard to be scared of children, but after watching this movie, you might want to walk quickly if you see a group of kids on the street.

Not terrible, but not even close to what a movie adaptation of this classic novel should be. I hope some filmmaker gets it right one day.

While the British adaptation of the Novel wasn't especially good or bad, this American telling is complete and utter slop. The story is filled with so many errors, and the acting is poor. This film can only be enjoyed by people who found no flaw whatoever with the novel, and are willing to sit through a bad telling of what is one of the best novels ever written. It is a shame that William Golding's great work has been dishonoured so badly by this film. Had it been called something different, it would have been labeled a Rip-Off, but that would not be doing nearly as much injustice as it did adapting from the novel.

As far as 1990's remkaes of 1960's classics go, this one's pretty damn good. The continuity and practicality is quiestionable, but it's still pretty damn good.

    Barely a shred of continuity.

People give this film a lot of shit, but it is a good film. You look at the details, everything looks like shit, but this film is pretty damn good. Watch it and decide, don't listen to pretentious ass-holes, no offense. It liked this film, and it has some good points; haven't seen the original.

This is the worst piece of shit movie I have ever seen. THe book was an acceptable piece of literature, written by a man who doesn't look like he's ever touched a weapon. Reading the book, you would expect the same plotline from the movie, not a shaky, grainy movie which plot changes at the director's whim and fancy. There are plenty of obvious mistakes. Some people which were never alive in the first place where present and some events that never existed in the book occurred. Jack is portrayed as a raving madman(or mad-boy) who has no life except killing things. Pretty accurate apart from the large amounts of blood present, marring the movie. Who would expect kids to go around slaughtering pigs like Sweeney Todd? Nobody. In fact, the multiple murders and the ghastly depiction of the bodies makes SAW look like Sesame Street. Three words kind of sums it up, Boring, Bloody and Terrible. Its impossible to imagine that Jack and Ralph could fight like Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, but there you have it, an epic duel between ten-year old boys. Pretty nasty. Highly interesting that the cast and crew would demolish an entire forest for the sake of killing someone they don't like. The only remotely interesting part was at the last, when Ralph had to run for his life out of the burning forest. After downing two of Jack's people Bourne-style, he makes a feeble attempt at emulating Usain Bolt and crumples miserably to the floor. The lousy ending kind of sums up the movie in one word: Terrible. If it were up to me, this would be one of the top on the worst movies of all time list. Burning an entire forest just for kicks startles me. Just to mention, the common use of expletives in the movie was shocking. Poor old Golding would have dropped dead with fright if he had seen this poorly-captured horror flick, filled with blood, expletives and pathetic acting.
